Clarification on Pocket Support not being a Replacement Support: Pocket Support vs replacement supports fact sheet

 

Pocket Support is an Assistive Technology solution designed to improve a participant’s safety and well-being by securely managing their support team, ensuring continuity of care, and reducing risks associated with unstructured support coordination. It directly aligns with the ‘Assistive Products for Personal Care and Safety’ category, as it provides a secure and structured tool for safer support management.

If you are a Self-Managed or Plan-Managed NDIS participant, you may be eligible to use your NDIS funding to pay for your Pocket Support subscription.

To get started, simply create a participant account and complete the Service Agreement using the link below, and we will issue an invoice to the appropriate party managing your NDIS funding.

Note: The name used in the service agreement needs to match the account name in your Pocket Support participant profile. So we can update your subscription once funding clears.

As we work with NDIS participants, it is essential to collect evidence based on the activities and support provided.

Pocket Support offers simple and professional reporting templates to help participants document necessary evidence while enabling providers to maintain compliance—without relying on personal devices, ensuring participant information remains safe and secure.

Default templates are available to assist in gathering the correct information, but if they don’t meet your needs, you can create your own. Each completed template generates a PDF document that can be securely stored within Pocket Support, with the option to share it via email with those who may need it, such as a support coordinator.

To ensure the security and privacy of participant information, Pocket Support requires participants and their representatives to have separate email accounts. If you’re signing up on behalf of a participant, please follow these steps:

Step 1:
Sign up for a participant account using a unique email address for the participant. If the participant does not have an email, you may need to create one (both Gmail and Outlook offer free email services). Once the participant’s account is created, they will have a dedicated account.

Step 2:
After creating the participant account, begin the sign-up process again, this time using your own email address. During this process, assign yourself as the representative.

Step 3:
Log in to the participant’s account using the Pocket Support mobile app (available for Android or Apple devices). Navigate to the “My Team” section and click the (+) button. You will be prompted to enter the email address of your representative account. Input the email address, designate it as the representative, and hit send.

We’re thinking ahead to ensure that all participant information is securely tied to the participant’s own account. This makes it easy to change representatives in the future if needed, without compromising any sensitive information. At Pocket Support, we are committed to growing alongside participants, ensuring that their support evolves with them while keeping their privacy protected.

Security Awareness at Pocket Support

At Pocket Support, we take the security of your personal and disability-related health information very seriously. All such data is securely handled within our platform and its servers, where it is encrypted to protect your privacy. Additionally, only users who meet specific identifiers and receive the necessary approvals are able to access this information, ensuring that your data is only visible to those with proper authorization.

What does this mean for you?

Pocket Support will never send or export your personal or health information to any external system or platform. For example, we do not send sensitive information through email or any other external service. Emails are only used for essential functions such as account confirmation and password resets.

We’ve designed the platform to operate entirely within the app itself, including our secure internal communication system. This ensures that whether you’re a participant, representative, or provider, your information remains protected at all times.

In order to seek reimbursement for Pocket Support, you must initially meet the eligibility criteria outlined by the NDIS and have available funding allocated under your CORE – Consumables category within your NDIS plan.

For a comprehensive understanding of your eligibility status, it is advisable to seek guidance from a knowledgeable advisor familiar with your NDIS plan, such as a Support Coordinator or Plan Manager. They can provide insights into the necessary steps for low-cost reimbursements and determine if you meet the criteria.

Pocket Support is classified as “Low Cost Assistive Technology (AT) – “Assistive Products for Personal Care and Safety” under Support Item Reference Number: 03_090000911_0103_1_1.

Upon your decision to purchase Pocket Support, we will furnish you with an invoice receipt containing all the relevant details required for reimbursement.

Please be aware that if you’re under the management of the NDIA, Pocket Support remains fully accessible to you, albeit at your own cost. We strive to maintain an affordable pricing structure to accommodate your budget and aim to minimize reliance on external funding. However, as we’re not a registered NDIS provider, we regretfully cannot facilitate reimbursements in accordance with NDIS criteria.

You will need to access pocket support via the Web portal Pocket Support | Login and follow the below instructions:

1. Simply have the participant invite you to their Participant Profile using the email associated with your Pocket Support account.
2. Upon accessing their profile, you’ll be directed to payment options. We offer both one-time payments and recurring options for flexibility.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the purchase.
4. An invoice receipt will be promptly sent to your nominated email address.

Absolutely not. We are firm believers in what’s best for the participants. That’s why we grant access to a Pocket Support provider account completely free of charge, without any paywall. Our only request is that you contribute to the betterment of the vulnerable community in the most impactful way.

Pocket Support manages sensitive information crucial for maintaining effective support systems, necessitating meticulous handling to ensure safety and efficiency.

The authorization of representative accounts empowers designated individuals with oversight of a participant’s profile, guaranteeing the responsible management of sensitive data and minimizing potential risks. This safeguarding measure aims to protect participants from actions that could jeopardize their well-being.

If you prefer to waive the representative requirement, rest assured that Pocket Support allows for flexibility. However, we will require adequate evidence demonstrating your cognitive capability to handle sensitive data and make informed decisions regarding support matters. A letter from a Occupational therapist who has assessed your cognitive ability will work.

We have provided a responsible person’s authority form so you can safely invite anyone to take the role of representative. This could be a family member, friend, or someone who works with you. So long as they agree and have the ability.

For now, we require you will need their email address to invite them.

Simply access your Team then invite via the INVITE button. Both a participant and Representative can invite users.

Please note that deleting your account will erase all data from our system. If you choose to create a new account later, it will not retain any information from the previously deleted account.

Participants with Representatives

1. If you have a representative (rep), they must first leave your team.
2. Once this is done, you’ll lose access to most tools within your account, except for your settings.
3.  Go to your account settings and select “delete account.” Follow the prompts to complete the deletion process.

Participants without a Rep, Providers, and Representatives

1. Simply navigate to your settings and select “Delete Account.” Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the deletion.

Yes, our application requires phone or home internet connection. 4g, 5g or NBN or home broadband connections work best. Note Your NDIS plan does NOT pay for your internet connection.

Due to how apple operate we have provided an easier option to apple users. Unfortunately, this does carry an increased cost.
